(FYI - unlike Chaga Chai + Food for Life, this is an organ meat powder without sweeteners or flavoring of any kind. It’s meant to be added to meals, not consumed alone as a “drink”.)
EFFORTLESSLY TRANSFORM ANY DISH INTO A NUTRIENT-DENSE ANCESTRAL MEAL
If there was one food that could make you HRD // KLL it would be organ meats.
Organs are an ancestral powerhouse + the most nutritious superfood on the planet. Ounce for ounce, they’re higher in vitamins, minerals, micronutrients, bioavailable protein, and fatty acids than any other food.
But in our modern-day lives + modern-day kitchens, organ meats are more difficult than ever to source, handle, and prepare. Not to mention their “strong” flavor that can be hard to handle if you’re not used to it!
This is part of the reason why organ supplements have become so popular. They’re an easier, more convenient way to still get all the benefits of organ meats without the mess, effort, or taste.
We’ve taken our fair share of organ complex capsules, but after several years we realized there was a way to do it just a little bit better. So here’s what we did different:
Lamb Liver (not beef)
While beef liver is incredibly high in nutrients, lamb liver is even more nutritious. Compared to beef, it has higher levels of iron, calcium, and fat (which is good for vitamin bioavailability).
ESSENTIAL VITAMINS IN LAMB LIVER:
- Vitamin A (Retinol)
- BI (Thiamin)
- B2 (Riboflavin)
- B3 (Niacin)
- B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
- Bo (Folate)
- B6
- B12
- Vitamin C
- Potassium
- Phosphorus Manganese
- Heme Iron
- Copper
- Zinc
- Selenium
- Magnesium
The rest of our organ blend – kidney, heart, spleen, and liver – is from grass-fed and finished, free-range beef. But it’s the lamb liver that really packs the punch!
Powder (minus the capsules)
Almost all other organ complexes on the market are in a capsule. We chose to go with a powder for several reasons…
1 - powders are more bioavailable. They’re absorbed easily by the body since they don't require digestion to break down a capsule. They can also mix directly with saliva in the mouth, and the salivary enzymes can “pre-digest” the powder which helps it get absorbed faster in the stomach.
2 - powders are more versatile. You can add any amount to anything you want! Plus it’s easier to “choose your own dose,” which is essential for a food as powerful as organ meats that you may not want to have a full dose of every day.
3 - no more “pill fatigue” from taking lots of supplements! (We’d just open our capsules and dump out the powder anyway.)
Just use a pinch, tsp or tbsp into any dish – smoothies, soups, lasagna, salad dressing, you name it – and it’s converted into a nutritious ancestral powerhouse!
TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH FOR THE HIGHEST QUALITY – LITERALLY.
The sourcing and testing of our food always matters, but maybe even more so when it comes to organ meats.
Organs (and all red meat) can accumulate and concentrate toxins. That means if yours aren’t from a reputable source, you might also be getting a dose of pesticides, glyphosate, antibiotics, and hormones too.
In order to find the cleanest, highest quality animal source, we quite literally went to the ends of the Earth – New Zealand. Our organs only come from animals raised on NZ open pastures, with ample fresh air, sunshine, grass diets, and no toxic chemical use.
100% Grass-Fed + Grass-Finished, Free-Range
Only from animals raised + finished under free-range New Zealand farming conditions with year-round access to grass. Never fed anything other than grass, hay, silage, lucerne, and other non-grain feed crops. Grass-fed meat is more nutrient-dense, higher in Omega-3s, lower in Omega-6s, and more rich in antioxidants.
Non-GMO
Never given any feed or grass containing genetically engineered (GMO) seeds.
Raised Without Antibiotics or Added Hormones
From birth to harvest, the animals are never given antibiotics, added hormones, or growth stimulants.
No artificial anything
Nothing added, nothing gross. Just pure powdered organ meats!
FAQs
1. Why a powder instead of capsules?
We’ve eaten organ meats for years for the health benefits, but have always found it challenging to source and prepare. Finding quality sources is tough, cooking them properly takes a long time, and if you don’t love the taste, you’re always looking for ways to mask it! Taking organ capsules is slightly more convenient, but not ideal if you get “pill fatigue” from taking a lot of other supplements.
So we decided to make this product as easy as humanly possible to use by just cutting out the entire process and going straight for a powder. Just scoop + add to literally whatever you want – smoothies, soups, burgers – for the added benefits of organ meats!
2. Why isn’t there a scoop in the bag?
We realize it’s annoying to dig around a bag of powder looking for a scoop…but most powders have a recommended dose. Our Organ complex doesn’t…you can use to taste, sprinkle, tsp or tbsp depending on what size dish or smoothie you’re making. Organs are extremely nutrient-dense, so we designed this as a “choose your own dose” kind of experience. You can use a teaspoon or spoon or “pinch” to measure out a “serving” or just sprinkle a bit into any dish to transform it into a nutritious ancestral meal.
3. What does it taste like?
If you’ve consumed organ meats before, you know the taste can be pretty intense + even “gross” to some people. Our organ complex is much milder in flavor. The beauty of a powder is in the drying process. A dried powder isn’t as strong as fresh organ meats or opening capsules, so you really CAN add it to most foods at a reasonable dose without noticing it.
It has the slight earthy taste that organ meats have.
4. What kind of testing is run on the ingredients?
These ingredients are prepared with the consumer’s health and safety as our top priorities. The New Zealand animal herds are free of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) diseases such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), chronic wasting disease in deer (CWD), and scrapie. BSE is a prion disease in animals associated with the human Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). New Zealand has never had BSE or CWD and has been free of scrapie since 1954. This makes the New Zealand animal sourced materials preferred for human applications.
5. Is this product Gluten Free?
Yes it is gluten free, and all of the donor animals are raised without genetically engineered feed, growth stimulants or hormones. The animals from which the product was derived have not been fed any wheat, rye, barley, or crossbreeds of these grains during their lifetime.
6. How long will this bag “last” and what is the shelf life?
Unopened, this bag has around a 2 yr shelf life. After that it will just start to lose it’s potency. So if you’re adding a dash into smoothies or a pinch into soups this bag should last you a few months for sure! (Organ meats are so nutrient dense you do NOT need to consume them on a daily basis!)
7. Does it need to be refrigerated?
It isn't necessary to keep our Organ complex in the refrigerator if it's sealed well. There's not really a date where it needs to be consumed by but if a pouch is left open in humid temperatures it will change the consistency a little bit (hoping this is obvious but stating it to cover our bases). So if you live in a really humid or hot climate, it might be beneficial to put it in the fridge but it's definitely not necessary.
IMPORTANT NOTE – this product is different from our other “superfood drinks” Chaga Chai + FFL. This is an organ meat powder without sweeteners or flavoring of any kind. It’s meant to be added to meals – like lasagna or meatloaf or smoothies – not a tasty drink you sip on. :)
