Why did we include non-GMO citric acid and non-GMO malic acid in this formula?
We used these ingredients to achieve a tart/tangy taste (similar to the tartness of a lemon). If you've ever tasted bare Aminos you know they are so bitter they are almost impossible to consume so we added a few ingredients to help balance the experience and make these aminos and creatine a pleasure to drink and enjoy sustainably. Because it if you don't ingest them, you won't benefit from them.
Benefits of non-GMO Citric acid:
Real lemon juice contains both citric and malic acids, which are partially responsible for the health benefits of lemons. Citric acid is needed to help turn food into energy (essential for ATP synthesis). Natural L-citric acid may support liver detoxification and promote metabolic health
How is our non-GMO citric acid is made:
Our citric acid is made via bacterial fermentation, involving a non-pathogenic yeast strain (Yarrowia lipolytica) and organic sugar. The yeast consumes the sugar, creating citric acid. The citric acid is then extracted, purified and powderized.
Many citric acids on the market are created via fermentation using Aspergillus niger. The fungus metabolizes the sugar, secreting citric acid as a byproduct. The citric acid is then extracted and purified. When this type of mold is used to create citric acid, the mold is fully removed from the remaining material, however, some people who are highly sensitive to molds may still have a slight reaction to the finished product.

Why did we include a tiny amount of organic monk fruit in this formula?
Amino acids are extremely bitter, and while we normally try to stay away from non-sugar sweeteners, we had a difficult time making this formula taste amazing without monk fruit. Adding a small amount of some organic monk fruit worked to round out the flavor profile and make this product taste delicious because in our experience it doesn't matter how "beneficial" something is if you can't stomach it, you won't take it.
